Build custom playlists, control how your music plays, and download tracks so the music keeps going even if your WiFi drops out.
Playback Controls
At the top of every track list you'll see two buttons — Shuffle and Continuous. These are the key to keeping music playing all day without touching your phone.
Shuffle: Randomises the play order so your customers don't hear the same sequence every day. Tap it once to turn it on — the icon highlights when active.
Continuous: Plays every track automatically with no gaps, then loops back to the start when it reaches the end. No dead air, ever — from open to close.
Turn both on for the best experience. Shuffle + Continuous means your music plays non-stop in a different order each time — your regulars won't notice it repeating.
Creating a Playlist
There are two ways to create a playlist:
Option 1 - Start empty: Go to the Playlists screen and tap + in the top right. Give your playlist a name and tap Create. Your playlist is now ready to add tracks to.
Option 2 - Create on the fly: While browsing Genres or searching tracks, tap the + icon next to any track. If you don't have a playlist yet, you'll be prompted to create one on the spot.
Adding Tracks to a Playlist
Tap on any playlist to open it. Tap the + Add tracks button at the bottom of the screen to open the music library. Browse by genre or search by name. Tap the + next to any track to add it. Tap Done when finished. Added tracks appear at the bottom of your playlist.
Downloading Music for Offline Playback
Open any playlist, then tap the Download button (cloud icon) at the top of the track list. Melodial will download every track in that playlist to your device. Once downloaded, those tracks will play even without an internet connection.
Note: You need an active subscription to use offline playback. Downloads are tied to your account — if your subscription lapses, offline tracks won't play.
Reordering Tracks
Inside a playlist, tap the Edit (pencil) button. Tap and hold the drag handle (three lines) next to any track, then drag it up or down to your desired position. Tap Save (checkmark) to apply, or Cancel (X) to discard changes.
Managing Playlists
Rename: Tap the edit (pencil) icon on a playlist card, enter a new name and confirm.
Remove a track: Open a playlist, then long-press on any track (or swipe right on mobile). Confirm the removal in the prompt that appears.
Delete a playlist: From the Playlists screen, long-press on any playlist card (or swipe right). Confirm deletion. Deleting a playlist does not delete the tracks — they remain available in the library.
Tips
- Aim for at least 20-30 tracks in any playlist you plan to run all day — this gives enough variety before the loop becomes noticeable.
- Downloads are per-device, so if you switch phones you'll need to re-download.
- Voice announcements can be added to a playlist just like any other track — find them under Genres → Announcements.
