How to Connect a Bluetooth Speaker to Play Melodial

Created by Melodial Support, Modified on Fri, 10 Apr at 4:06 PM by Melodial Support

Play Melodial through any Bluetooth speaker — JBL, Bose, UE Boom, Sony, Marshall, Harman Kardon, Anker, or any other brand. Takes about 1 minute.

What You'll Need

Make sure your Bluetooth speaker is charged (or plugged in) and turned on. You'll need the Melodial app or web player on your phone.

Step 1: Put Your Speaker in Pairing Mode

Every Bluetooth speaker has a pairing mode that makes it discoverable. The method varies by brand:

- JBL (Flip, Charge, Go, Xtreme, Boombox): Press the Bluetooth button. LED will flash to indicate pairing mode.

- Bose (SoundLink, SoundFlex): Press and hold the Bluetooth button until the indicator flashes blue. Some models enter pairing mode automatically when turned on for the first time.

- UE (Boom, Megaboom, Wonderboom): Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the side for about 2 seconds. The speaker will play a tone.

- Sony (XB series, SRS series): Press and hold the power button or Bluetooth button for about 5–7 seconds. An LED will flash or you'll hear a voice prompt.

- Marshall (Emberton, Acton Bluetooth, Stanmore Bluetooth): Press and hold the Bluetooth button until the light flashes.

- Other brands: Look for a Bluetooth symbol button. Press and hold it until a light flashes or you hear a tone. If nothing happens, try turning the speaker off and back on.

Step 2: Connect on iPhone/iPad

1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.

2. Tap Bluetooth. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.

3. Wait for your speaker to appear in the list under "Other Devices".

4. Tap it to connect. You'll usually hear a tone from the speaker confirming the connection.

Next time: Your iPhone will remember the speaker. Just turn the speaker on — it should connect automatically.

Step 2 (Alternative): Connect on Android

1. Open Settings → Connected devices → Bluetooth (path varies by phone brand).

2. Turn on Bluetooth and tap "Pair new device" (or "Scan" on Samsung).

3. Tap your speaker in the list of available devices.

4. Tap Pair to confirm if prompted.

Next time: Your Android phone will remember the speaker and may reconnect automatically.

Step 3: Open Melodial and Press Play

Open the Melodial app or go to app.melodial.com. Choose a playlist and press play. Music will come through your speaker.

No Bluetooth? Use a Cable

If your speaker has a 3.5mm AUX input, you can connect with a standard audio cable. This is actually more reliable than Bluetooth for all-day business use — no disconnections, no interference, no re-pairing needed. Just plug in and play.

Troubleshooting

Speaker doesn't appear in Bluetooth list: Make sure the speaker is in pairing mode (the LED should be flashing). Try turning Bluetooth off and back on on your phone. Make sure you're within a few metres of the speaker.

Connection drops during the day: This is usually interference from other Bluetooth or WiFi devices. Try moving your phone closer to the speaker, or switch to an AUX cable for a more stable connection.
